Jacobean Renaissance Garden
River Oaks
This John Staub home was realized in the early 1930’s in its Jacobean architectural style. We were commissioned to design gardens which had strong organizational relationships with the architecture. The design emphasized a desire for the development of unique garden spaces offering entertaining and garden sculpture venues. Paring with the architectural team responsible for renovations, we coordinated placement and finished floor elevations of the new architectural elements added to the site. The new pool pavilion and garage structure were integrated within the site and its lawn terrace link three adjacent elements of architecture in a formal manner. The swimming pool was located off the new pavilion’s southern axis while its cross axis centers the large sculpture garden room. These axial relationships allow an experience of movement and flow from defined garden spaces.
